Changes to NDIS Funding Allocation:
Introduction of Funding Periods
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is introducing a change in how funding is allocated. Going forward, NDIS funding will be distributed in instalments across the duration of each participant’s plan. These instalments are referred to as Funding Periods. Starting from 19th May 2025.
What Does This Mean for You?
Participants will no longer receive their full NDIS budget at the beginning of their plan.
Instead, funding will be released in smaller, scheduled instalments throughout the life of the plan.
If the full amount allocated in a Funding Period is not spent, the remaining balance will be rolled over into the next Funding Period.
However, unspent funds will not be carried over into a new plan once the current plan ends.
You will only be able to claim up to the amount available in your current Funding Period.
Who Will This Affect?
All new NDIS participants.
All existing NDIS participants once their plan is reassessed.
